NO MURRAY-CY..........A PUNISHING POSTCARD FROM JUST CONCLUDED AUSTRALIAN OPEN GRANDSLAM 2011

Yes, I still have a bit of  a hangover left from Sunday afternoons ruthless display by Novak Djokovic. The super Serb really played like a God against hapless Andy Murray down under to clinch his second Aussie Open Grand Slam. Hope his awesome display will  put an end to all the speculation and debate about heir apparent, worthy successor to great Roger Federer.

Novak has the game, the attitude and the charisma to succeed both , Roger as well as Rafa. Fitness was an issue for a while, but now even that seems to be a thing of past and he has come out stronger than ever before.

Go Novak!........More Slams, More Trophies awaits.

HE'S BACK!.............COUNT OF MONTE CARLO !!

Nice to see Rafa getting back to his winning ways. 6th Straight Monte Carlo Masters title at Monaco couldn't have come at a better time. Though the title draught lasted a wee bit longer than expected, I am sure he must be absolutely elated now to see it happen at Monte Carlo, a place he has made his own backyard over the years. His last one came at Rome Masters in May 2009.

I can only feel sorry for Fernando Verdasco. With the kind of attacking form displayed by Rafa, there's little he could have done to stop him today. For those who have a fetish for statistics, Rafa is the only player to have won 6 consecutive titles in the same tournament since Tennis turned professional in the year 1968.

Grass ain't green anymore.........Rafa has arrived !!

On Sunday evening, the lush green mat at the famous centre court was coated red , by the sultan of Paris. The unstoppable march of Roger at Wimbledon was finally halted by his true nemesis Rafael Nadal.

The face-off lived up to all that hype. In the opinion of all the past legends and the experts this showdown has been the greatest of all times. Clocking well over 4 hours..........the game witnessed two fearsome gladiators slugging it out......doing' everything possible to out do each other. In the end tenacity prevailed over finesse.

Roger, the silent assassin must be completely devastated after this loss.........for he did all the catching up in this contest. Barring the first two sets, he really played out of his skin. But Alas!! in the end it wasn't enough and Rafa, the workhorse, the unrelenting warrior kissed the Wimbledon trophy.
