VIVA ESPANA !............POSTCARD FROM A NATION GONE CRAZY

And why shouldn't they ? After all the people of Spain have waited for a long time for this moment of glory. I feel sorry for the Dutch though. This was their 3rd appearance in the Finals and once again for them it turned out to be the same old story of, so close yet so far. I am sure sure it hurts them real bad.

But there is no taking away from the Spanish team. Barring the first encounter with the Swiss team, they improved as the Cup progressed and peaked at the right time. They might not have scored as many goals, but in the end they proved a worthy Champion. They thoroughly deserve their place under the sun.

KUDOS SPAIN!

SUPER SUNDAE.......THIS IS IT! CURTAIN FALLS ON WORLD CUP 2010

It's indeed a Super Sundae :-). A mouthwatering encounter between two of the most gifted footballing powerhouses. Tonight the dutchmen and the spaniards are on the brink of making history. One will try to end its 32 year long agonising wait, for another shot at the ultimate glory and the other will finally vie for its rightful place in the soccer hall of fame.

MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN. And I hope the finale lives up its billing of a ' tooth for a tooth eye for an eye ' face-off.

CORRIGENDUM......PUNDIT LOSES TO A TWO YEAR OLD. POSTCARD FROM FIFA WORLD CUP SOCCER 2010

How does it feel when you lose out to an ugly looking two year old psychic octopus called Paul? Believe me it's a real downer. Yours truly is feeling no different after the shocking second semi finals . My prophecy has been proved wrong and the Germans are out.

Since Germany's performance, or should I say lack of it, has been criticized and ridiculed to death, I don't see any point on dwelling on the subject now. But what really surprised me was the flawless performance of Spanish armada. They just didn't allow Germany to settle into any rhythm. Germany looked a completely different side to the one which blitkrieged the Argentinians.

One more to go.....who is it going to be? The Red or The Orange?........umm. Well, I think let's leave that to Paul. Another corrigendum after the finals........Nay!

HE'S BACK!.............COUNT OF MONTE CARLO !!

Nice to see Rafa getting back to his winning ways. 6th Straight Monte Carlo Masters title at Monaco couldn't have come at a better time. Though the title draught lasted a wee bit longer than expected, I am sure he must be absolutely elated now to see it happen at Monte Carlo, a place he has made his own backyard over the years. His last one came at Rome Masters in May 2009.

I can only feel sorry for Fernando Verdasco. With the kind of attacking form displayed by Rafa, there's little he could have done to stop him today. For those who have a fetish for statistics, Rafa is the only player to have won 6 consecutive titles in the same tournament since Tennis turned professional in the year 1968.

Welcome back Rafa !!
