GREEN, GREEN GRASS OF HOME !!

Who doesn't remember the famous Johnny Cash song. I am sure I am not the only one. If there's one song which can stake a claim to be the EARTH SONG, then my vote will go to this all time classic. Awesome lyrics and so beautifully sung.

We are celebrating too many of these special days now. So hard to keep a track of what's coming up next. Beyond the family tree celebrations( Mothers day, Fathers day, Brothers day, Sisters day, Grand Folks day etc) we've got numerous others on the calendar. If not for the morning paper today, the day would have come and gone like yesterday and the day before.

Nice to know that there's still some hope left for Old Oak trees. But the task on hand is mammoth and only few individuals, handful of companies and nations can't guarantee a brighter tomorrow . It has to be a global agenda, a global movement. It's an amazing feeling to touch the green, green grass of home. COME LET'S SAVOR IT AND SAVE IT .

HAPPY EARTH DAY !!!

RAGING BULL........NOT ONE BUT TWO!!

Kudos to team Red Bull for pulling off their maiden F1 triumph despite inhospitable conditions at Shanghai circuit yesterday. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber gave the team a lot to cheer by bringing home the cars in a clinical one and two finish on a rain soaked track.

After two superb back to back debut wins, Brawn team had to settle for a third and fourth position for Jenson and Rubens respectively. Not a bad result to my mind, given that it wasn't easy out there. Extremely hostile setting with so much of water all around. Last years big guns Mercedes McLaren & Ferrari ( lot of homework to be done back home at Monza, 3 races in a row without points) are languishing at the bottom and must be wondering at their unsual lack of form. They will have to do something remarkable to defend their traditional supremacy and stop the newcomers from running away with the honors.

IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC !! Forever Sultan Of Tweak

The Talisman has still got it. Those two vicious deliveries last night were good enough to prove that the blonde sultan hasn't lost any of his magical powers. Boy! didn't he foxed them stupid. Poor Virat Kholi and B Akhil simply couldn't read the ball. And as if the power demo wasn't enough, he flew like a bird to catch a cracking shot by Dravid to end his fabulous innings of 66.

Though Team Jaipur was humiliated in the end by the Royal Challengers from Bangalore in the second edition of IPL at South Africa, but Shane Warne the losing captain couldn't have asked for a better start to his personal form . One thing is for sure, the other teams will have to watch out for the legendary leggy in the coming games. Every time he has that ball in his hand.....IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC!!

RETURN OF THE SLUMDOG !!

What would you call a movie that refuses to go down as a make - believe, a storyline that starts breathing life beyond the silver screen? It has to be the rags-to-riches tale directed by Danny Boyle. I think we will have to credit the multiple Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire as an exceptional movie which has so beautifully captured a parallel world right at the heart of Mumbai - the city of glitz n glamour, a world where everyday is a living hell .

The true essence of movie making doesn't lie in entertaining the cinegoers alone. A true masterpiece is one which can rise and step out of the screen to touch people's lives . The producers of Slumdog are planning to donate Rs 37 million for the welfare of Mumbai's slumkids. All of it for a programme aimed at providing health care and education to these kids.

Now that's what I call a noble cause. Danny & Team surely deserves another golden statuette for the initiative.

SHOOT 'EM UP !!!

Honestly I don't know why I am writing this post. Maybe I am little pissed with my adversaries right now for the wrong they have inflicted upon me. I really want to shoot 'em up, terrorise and torment them like Clive Owen did to hit man Paul Giamatti n gang in that thrilling movie, SHOOT 'EM UP . One dialogue by Paul the hitman which made be laugh and has stayed with me even today is a gospel that all my adversaries should keep in mind , A LEADER/BOSS WHO STAYS AT THE BACK, GETS IT IN THE BACK ( May not be verbatim as per the script, but close).

Anyways, my situation aside, I strongly recommend this movie to all my fellow movie buffs . If you have a fetish for action flicks , you would love to ride this tour de force.

Happy Viewing !

Bang Bang !!

NET IS DEHUMANISING !!

Is it ?? Doesn't matter what I think. Keira Knightley ( Remember that beautiful face from Pirates of the Caribbean flick) surely does. I was reading this little piece of news in today's, Delhi Times ( City News pull out with Times Of India) and it got me thinking. The gorgeous lady doesn't think too much of the social networking sites and finds Internet dehumanising.

I thought its a very strong thing to say, especially at times when technology is all pervasive. Every human action is directly or indirectly linked to it. The importance of Internet can't be undermined in today's context. Distances have disappeared, things happen in real time.

But on second thoughts, I think the lady is right . Tech can be cold at times. One of my all time favorite, case in point is e cards. Its just not the same. Its not human. I would still prefer an envelope bearing my name with a nice little card inside carrying a hand written personal note. It surely feels human when you get one. Trust me, it does.

Think about it ! When was the last time you ventured out to pick up a greeting card? Do you remember the date when you had put pen to paper ?? Try it sometimes, surely feels human.

Groovin' n Shakin' !! .........What's on my i pod

Music is boundless. It's an Ocean out there. Unfortunately we don't get to see enough new launches when it comes to English music in India. Though I have a dedicated music blog( haven't posted anything new in a long time though. Hopefully I should be back with a vengeance shortly. Coz there's hell of a lot I want to talk about ) to write about my kind of stuff , music that makes me spin that wheel on my i pod whenever I have a breather.

"IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE, PLAY ON" said William Shakespeare. Life isn't an easy walk in the park any more. It's a real grind, day in and day out. And what better way to dance away your blues then digg into music you love.

As I write this post super rock act U2 is killin' me with their latest offering NO LINE ON THE HORIZON. Few bands can boast of a more chequered career than this awesome Irish quartet. I am huge huge fan of their music. Never seem to get enough. Don't miss it, the album is available at all the leading music stores.

Here's my top 10 new releases last year and in 09 so far....

  1. U2 - NO LINE ON THE HORIZON

  2. SHINEDOWN - THE SOUND OF MADNESS

  3. HINDER - TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT

  4. NICKELBACK - DARK HORSE

  5. DAVID COOK - DAVID COOK

  6. STAIND - THE ILLUSION OF PROGRESS

  7. 3 DOORS DOWN - 3 DOORS DOWN

  8. COLDPLAY - VIVA LA VIDA

  9. THE KILLERS - DAY & AGE

  10. DARIUS RUCKER - LEARN TO LIVE

Happy Listening !!

It ain't hot...it's kool !!

Historic city of Delhi offers plenty of excitement under the sun. The hustle n bustle on the streets, the buzz in the market place, the Dilli wala's and their tashan( Style Silly!), keeps the city in high spirits round the year.Well that also explains the reason for its popularity with the foodies I guess . There's plethora of options if you want to whet your appetite. If you are a tourist who loves binging and your travel itinerary doesn't include a visit to any of those chat - pata( spicy!) joints, namely the Haldiram's , Bikaner wala's , Nathu's , Ghante wala, paranthe wali gali, then it's about time you take your agent to task.

And it doesn't stop with these big boyz alone , every market has something or the other to offer. One such landmark, ,which has stood tall amidst the onslaught of glamorous food joints, is the good old Depaul's at Janpath. Nothing flashy about this place, yet each evening the sea of people swamping is a sight to behold. Shopping at the famous Janpath and not able to savor that thanda thanda( Cool!) Depaul's cold coffee .......Nay!! For some it's the ultimate thirst quencher.

Try it ! It's kool !!

I AM WHAT I AM.......I wear it well !!

Is anybody out there? Is anybody listening ?? I am not so sure. Am I confused? Maybe or maybe not. Does it really bother me to discover myself stranded on a lonely island all alone? No I don't think so. Coz I bloody well know..................

Life ain't a straight road my friend,
twists and turns, she's got too many
One moment she can make you a king
next minute a hapless bird without a wing
O' yes I know it
she can be hard, she can be cruel
coz seldom she plays by the rules.
This ain't a dream Iam dreamin'
I've learnt it well
O' yes I know it
she can be uncompromising
unforgiving n ruthless as hell
O' yes I know it
know it so damn well.

NOT YOUR USUAL G SPOT !!!

This post in the end might not be half as stimulating and pleasurable as the one in the latest Issue of cosmopolitan. But in todays corporate jungle for many the corporate G SPOT comes close to the real thing, time permitting even better.

Why do we blindly fall into this gossip trap, why can't we mind our own business, why do we even listen to all that crap that goes around, why can't we get it straight, why do we need a via media. There are so many questions unanswered at the workplace.

Having an ear on the ground is a good thing as long as it respects the individual and the system he is part of . It should never become a tool to settle scores and demean individuals. People essaying leadership roles should especially be wary about the flipp side. They should never foster and encourage such a culture.

Hope better sense prevails upon those who have made this an integral part of their hidden agenda at work.

IN THE END WORK SHOULD BE JUST THAT...WORK. AND WORKPLACE JUST A WORKPLACE AND NOT G SPOTS.

Out of the rabbit hole at last !! SITTING ON THE EDGE

Coming out of a self imposed exile, a hiatus which wasn't really required in the first place to be honest, is never easy. It's bloody tough. Blogging is a thinking persons virtual diary. A place to breathe easy and ponder about the good n the bad, about those things that we do , about our inaction's towards situations which have no future if not dealt today and now.

Over the last four months, I have seen more lows than highs. More recently I have been pushed, and forced to the edge .I am still struggling to find the answers to all my questions. But nonetheless, I haven't given up just yet. Coz, from the edge all I can see is a whole new world waiting to be explored, charmed and conquered.

HERE I COME!!
