A WALK IN THE CLOUDS.....PICTURE OF THE DAY !!

There you are, walking in the clouds again

floating like a feather, there you go again.

Nothing compares to you dear

everthing seems so right, when you are here.

There you are, flowing like a river again

blowing like a cool breeze, there you go again.

Nothing compares to you dear

everything seems so right when you are here..........when you are near.

PRAISE THE LORD!............TODAY IS RAMA NAVAMI

India is a country of many faiths and religions. There is no other place in this world where so much of diversity can be seen. Hindu's across the world are celebrating Rama Navami - the birth of Lord Rama today. As thousands of devotees throng the temples across this mighty land, it's time to remind ourselves that.......IN THE END THE TRUTH SHALL PREVAIL.............IN THE END THE EVIL SHALL BE TERMINATED BY THE GOOD INSIDE US.

"Do onto others as you would have them do onto you". Let's not forget this gospel.

BATTLESTATION REVISITED..........

Sitting here all alone in the middle of the night
thinking, pondering, what went wrong?
Is it me? or it's them?
Who is it? Who has got it all wrong?

I am not turning my back my friend
Dreams I've still got many,
and courage I have plenty.
I am just gettin' sick n tired of these games,
games I can't comprehend and I would never ever play
I 've had enough I think, and it's time to walk away

quiet, real quiet I think I should walk away....should walk away.

A BLAST FROM THE PAST........ONE OF THE GREATEST SPORTING PICTURES OF ALL TIMES

Basketball is one of my favorite sport....In fact it has been one right from my childhood days. Saw this great picture today . Thanks to Digg and Total Pro Sport for putting it up. A rare sight of two of the favorite sons of Chicago catching a breath on the sidelines, Jordan the greatest ever forward to have played the game and Pippen the greatest ever defender to have graced a basketball court. REALLY THOSE WERE THE DAYS..........DAYS OF GLORY!!

THIS WAY PLEASE...........WELL GUIDED !!

The most simple things in marketing are more often than not, the most important ones as well. Companies spend oodles of monies to attract the customers to their stores every year. But in their unending quest for grabbing the attention, many of them often tend to forget the basics.

Look at these two pictures. A small ordinary restaurant in Connaught Place, New Delhi called English Dairy uses every trick in the bag to capture the attention of office goers as well as shoppers. Since it is not front facing, it tries to woo the people by giving them directions.

Well, when the customers can't find you, you better reach out to them and bring them in.

Interesting I thought........worth a postcard.

STAR TALK !!..........HUGO, VAN GOGH AND THE STARS

"What Is Love? I have met in the streets a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn, the water passed through his shoes and the stars through his soul"
- Victor Hugo.

"I don't know anything with certainty, but seeing the stars makes me dream."
- Vincent Van Gogh.

"Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them."
- Marcus Aurelius.

"To him the stars seemed like so many musical notes affixed to the sky, just waiting for somebody to unfasten them. Someday the sky would be emptied, but by then the earth would be a constellation of musical scores"
- Machado de Assis.

THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER.........AUSTRALIA BREAKS THE JINX

It's been a long and agonising wait of 24 years. Finally under the guidance of legendary Ric Charlesworth, the young and talented Australian team bested the defending champions Germany to lift the Hockey World Cup 2010 at New Delhi last night. Though Ric attributed the magnificent triumph to his players, but people who follow the game understand his important contribution in shaping the current squad.

Congratulations to Ric and the Australian team for playing some amazing hockey and emerging victorious in the decider.

AN EVENING TO REMEMBER.......... A CINEPHILE'S DREAM COME TRUE

Indeed yesterday evening was very special. It is not everyday, that one gets an opportunity to see and hear two living legends from the world of cinema. India Today Conclave 2010 - a global forum that brings great minds drawn from various fields on a singular platform, had saved the very best for last. James Cameron and Amir Khan shared the stage and discussed the future of cinema and shared their passion for their craft. Both were of the opinion that storytelling and performance by the actors will continue to hold the key for the success of movies across the world. Due to the rapid advancement in technology, more and more directors will embrace it to enhance the whole cinematic experience.

James was the first to weave his magic. He took the audiences on a spellbinding roller coaster ride, starting with his childhood days, his fascination for science , his acclaimed bouquet of Science fiction flicks Abyss, Alien, Terminator and then moving on to the magnum Opus Titanic. But the highlight for me and I am sure for the rest of the attendees as well, was his experience behind the making of Avatar. James indeed is a visionary and a director extraordinaire with an unbridled passion for his craft. A genius who has very few peers....men with same amount of zeal and never- say- die attitude.

And talking about the second speaker of the evening, what can I say? Amir Khan doesn't have any peers. As far as I am concerned, this man is only fighting against himself. He is in a class of his own. For more than 20 years now he has been upping the bar . He is undoubtedly one of the finest actors the Indian Film Industry has ever produced.

I am glad that I was there............truly a memorable experience.... An evening to remember.

LONG LIVE CINEMA !!

PLEASE RELEASE ME !!

"Nothing lasts forever, even this shall pass"
this ain't new , I've heard this before
Move on they tell me, and forget the days of yore .

I wish it was easy, wish I could start anew
Alas! follies my friends, I've committed far too many
these scars run deep and I've got too many....far too many.

FROM THE ROOFTOP................NOTHING BUT STARS TONIGHT!!

Another favorite picture from the Star Catchers private collection. It's past midnight and there's no better time than this quiet moment to slide in one last postcard before calling it quits for the day. Good Night !!

PICTURE OF THE WEEK...........BLUE BEN !!

The highlight of the big night at the 82nd Academy Awards was the Ben Stiller moment. The funny man came up on the stage as an Avatar wearing Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo and Navi blue face and hands..................I LOVED IT !! My pick for the picture of the week. Ben you nailed it man.............awesome !!

ALL THAT GLITTERS.....AIN'T GOLD !!

Better believe it. And lately who knows it better than Mr. James Cameron . The blockbuster money spinning juggernaut AVATAR lost out to THE HURT LOCKER at the 82nd Academy Awards, 3 : 6 . A little consolation for James was the fact that the lady who spoiled his big party or should I say icing on the cake was none other than his ex wife Kathryn Bigelow. Though it was hard, but the man with the Midas touch handled it well and seemed quite cool, calm and collected. And as for the lady, the first woman recipient of the golden statuette as a director, what can I say...............you've made the women of the world real proud Kathryn....WAY TO GO !!

IN THE JUNGLE.....THE MIGHTY JUNGLE!! ONE FOR THE KIDS AND THE KID IN US

Who doesn't remember that lovely little animation flick Lion King, and the magic of Tim Rice and Elton John on songs like Circle of Life, Can you feel the love tonight. Released way back in 1994, I have watched this movie so many times.....and on every occasion with a huge smile on my face. It wasn't a run-of-the-mill laugh riot , which most of the animated movies tend to be. On the contrary, it was an emotional roller coaster with excellent musical score, great storyline and last but not the least, some amazing characters.

I have been thinking about doing this postcard for a long time, but for some strange reason haven't been able to do so....until this moment. This one specially goes out to all the kids and to all my fellow earthlings............WATCH IT , SING LIKE THE HIPPO , AND MOVE LIKE THE DOG..........TO THE BEAT OF THE JUNGLE :)

(A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh)
(A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh)

In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle the quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight

Near the village the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village the quiet village
The lion sleeps tonight

Hush my darling don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush my darling don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight

SLEDGEHAMMER COMETH ..............TAEKEMA THE DESTROYER

Continuing with Hockey, how many of you have seen Mr. Sledgehammer Taeke Taekema in action? It's a sight to behold to see this man wait for the ball on top of the D and seconds later bury it in the goal like a bullet. He is undoubtedly one of the finest exponent of penalty corner in the world today. With more than 100 international matches under his belt this Dutchman is a magician with the stick.

Mark my words, this man can single - handedly take his team all the way to the finals. On his day, he can destroy any opposition.

STAR STRUCK !!

Here comes another postcard from the room at the top of the stairs..........on the top left hand side of the screen there is a key to the room......Come on in and enjoy this eternal favorite song by Eddie Rabbitt.

BRING THEM ALL ............MORE GUJIA PLEASE !

"Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Coincidence? I think not !" I really like this dessert quote from an unknown author. It's Holi today and I am not going to hide my fondness for sweets. Do I have a sweet tooth? Well, you could say that:-). I think having sweets is a great way to destress. Holi is incomplete without savoring the special GUJIA ( traditional Indian dessert ). It's a sweet Indian dumpling, filled with an almond and raisin mixture. I just love them. BRING THEM ALL I SAY, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM..........COLOURS CAN WAIT.
HAPPY HOLI AGAIN !!
